The Town of Hebden Bridge has transformed itself from a former fading industrial town to a trendy somewhat new age destination the place is now popular with tourists who browse the shops and take in the surroundings.

The town nestles beside the river Hebden in a deep valley in Calderdale the river and canal where at one time the reason for the towns growth as a textile manufacturing town, both waterways providing power and access to market respectively.

In the 1970 artists and musicians found the town and an influx of creative people began, making the town very popular with tourists and a fashionable destination. These days there are numerous bookshops, cafes and craft shops. For those wishing to explore there is an excellent Tourist information office in the canal centre on Butlers wharf.

For the more energetic the nearby beauty spot of hard castle crags has some nice walks, above the town the Old village of Heptonstall can be explored complete with cobbled streets old cottages and a beautiful ruined 13th century church.
