Clovelly

The beautiful well preserved and privately owned village is a gem to visit with quaint cottage lined streets that wind steeply down to the harbour; the streets are so steep no cars are allowed. At the harbour lobster pots and fishing nets line the cobbled quayside against a backdrop of tumbling cottages, steep streets and the deep blue waters, the effect is stunning,.

Clovelly is the archetypal picture postcard fishing village and because of this, it gets very busy in the summer.

The author of the water babies Charles Kingsley spent much of his early life at Clovelly his house can be visited, there is also traditional fisherman’s cottage and two chapels.

Clovelly is privately owned so there is a small admission charge to enter the village this is payable at the visitor information centre.
