Llandeilo


This tiny but pretty town is set on a hill surrounded by fields and although not more than a hamlet it has a pretty church and graveyard, the surrounding narrow streets are full of Georgian and Victorian houses. The landscape of the area has been shaped by the past occupation of several large estates and parklands, now gone they have left a legacy in the landscape.

Nearby is the national Botanical Garden of wales that was setup in 2000 and consequently is still maturing, however located in one of the former estates it is a great place to visit with all manner of habitats and on display complete with lakes and woodland. There is also an educational section on medical use of plant and organic farming, the Great glasshouse is an amazing glass dome sunk in the earth.

Other attractions include .
Dinefwr Park and castle complete with Newton House a superb 17th century manor house.

Aberglasney gardens this complex of walled gardens and atmospheric manor house is a great experience, the 250 year-old yew tunnel and bluebell woods are superb.
