The small village of Hindhead is in an area of exceptional countryside during the 19th century several famous Victorians bought property here including Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Sir Robert Hunter a co-founder of the National trust also lived here in Haslemere.

The area known as the devils punch-bowl is especially scenic.

This area is popular with walkers and ramblers the village sits in the largest open area of heathland in surrey.
