Long Melford


The village of Long Melford has a beautiful and imposing church sitting at one end of the village green, this 15th century wool church is magnificent and has beginnings dating back to the 11th century, inside there is some exceptional stained glass windows.

The village is blessed with fine architecture and boasts Melford hall, which is looked after by the national trust. This fine Elizabethan building has not changed a great deal since the queen herself visited in 1578.

Highlights include a banqueting hall as well as Victorian and Regency artefacts, the house was owned by the parker family until 1960. There is also a Beatrix potter display as the author was related to the family.

Kentwell hall another Elizabethan building is also located in the village this building is owned by the Phillips family and is their private home, visitors are welcome and the hall hosts events throughout the year.

This moated manor has a Tudor rose maze and a rare breeds farm which is great for the kids. There are also costume events when Tudor times are recreated as well as a Halloween event.
