Kilpeck and Chuch


Kilpeck is a small village in Herefordshire England and is about nine miles southwest of Hereford in the area known as the Welsh marches.

The village is renowned for its small but outstanding Norman Romanesque church of SS Mary and David’s this tiny building is regarded as one of the finest Norman Churches in England. Lying next to the church are the earthworks and a wall fragment of a Norman motte and bailey castle.

The doorway into the church is outstanding with fine intricate stonework the church has many corbels on the exterior picturing hares and other animals as well as human heads. This stonework along with the church is so remarkable and well preserved that it attracts visitors from all over the world.
