Hexham was gifted to Wilfrid by St Etheldreda who built the Priory some of the Priory is constructed from Roman stones taken from Corbridge you can see carvings and inscriptions on many of them.
The town itself has a market place with stone column shambles and a 14th century moot hall1 as well as a gallery.
The border history Museum and library are housed in the Archbishop's goal built about 1300.
