Broadway is known as the Jewel of the Cotswolds The Main Street of this charming town is lined on either side with the most beautiful examples of Cotswold cottages and buildings.
These largely four centuries old buildings are made of the local oolitic limestone. The warm honey coloured stone is perfectly set off by the well kept grass verges that line the street.
Broadway much loved by artists’ is one of the most photographed of the Cotswold Show villages. The 16th century, Lygon arms was a private house during the Civil War and both Cromwell and Charles I stayed there at different times it is now a Hotel and spa.
The original parish church built in 1160 is in the Lane south of the village.
Walk up the street towards fish hill once at the top the views are amazing towards Worcester Cathedral, Tewkesbury Abbey and northwards towards Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick Castle.
while at the top of the hill explore the folly known as beacon tower.
The Tower was popular with the pre Raphaelites and was visited by Morris, Rossetti and Burne-Jones.
