In the 1630s, Puritans left from the Lincolnshire town of Boston bound for America or the Netherlands and religious freedom.
On reaching the Americas and Massachusetts they founded Boston USA in memory of their hometown.
The ancestors of John Quincy Adams the 6th US president were from this Lincolnsire town.
